Quantum computing creates a need to prepare early for data security and cyber resilience, even if large-scale effects are not immediate.

Session context

The session looks at the longer-term risks quantum technology may pose to encryption, sensitive data and digital infrastructure. The focus is how organisations assess exposure, classify information assets, plan a move to suitable security methods and strengthen recovery after incidents. It also covers coordination among regulators, technology firms, financial institutions and operators of essential infrastructure to build shared awareness, standards and skills for the transition.

Guiding questions

  1. Which data and systems should be assessed first against quantum risk?
  2. Where should an organisation start its security-transition path?
  3. What coordination and standards raise resilience at ecosystem level?
