Quantum technology needs a long path that connects research, people, infrastructure, firms and application problems of real value.

Session context

The session focuses on the conditions needed to form a quantum-technology ecosystem. Beyond foundational research, the ecosystem needs training programmes, shared infrastructure, long-term funding, firm connections and international cooperation. It is expected to discuss how to choose priority fields, grow a community of people, support experiments and build a bridge from the laboratory to industrial demand. The aim is not to over-forecast the technology, but to identify practical steps that accumulate capability over time.

Guiding questions

  1. Which foundational capabilities should be built first for a quantum ecosystem?
  2. How are research, training and firm demand connected?
  3. How can international cooperation share infrastructure, knowledge and standards?
